Eleanor Roosevelt resigned her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. The DAR refused to let singer Marion Anderson, an African Amercian singer perform in Constitutional Hall because she was black. Eleanor then had Ms Anderson preform on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.
